Trump blasts Michael Avenatti as a ‘third-rate lawyer good at making false accusations’

President Donald Trump tore into Michael Avenatti after the lawyer released a sworn statement from his client accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of being present at a house party where she alleges she was drugged and gang raped.

Trump did not immediately attack the credibility of accuser Julie Swetnick, although he has gone after another Kavanaugh accuser, Debbie Ramirez.

Instead, Trump mocked Avenatti as a ‘total low-life!’ and a ‘third rate lawyer.’

Avenatti’s most prominent client is porn star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had a sexual affair with Trump in 2006 at a celebrity golf tournament.

‘Avenatti is a third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations, like he did on me and like he is now doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh,’ Trump said, tying the accusations against him to the stunning claims about his high court nominee.

President Donald Trump said the Kavanaugh nomination should have been pushed through sooner, and attacked Swetnick lawyer Michael Avenatti as a ‘total low-life’

‘He is just looking for attention and doesn’t want people to look at his past record and relationships – a total low-life!’ Trump wrote.

Longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to being directed by Trump to make a $130,000 to Daniels as part of a non-disclosure agreement.

Trump’s lawyers admitted he reimbursed Cohen for the payment to the porn star, after Trump initially denied being involved.

Longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to being directed by Trump to make a $130,000 to Daniels as part of a non-disclosure agreement that she and Cohen signed, using pseudonyms.

The agreement also had a line for Trump to sign using a pseudonym, but he never signed it.

Avenatti hit back at Trump, without bringing up Daniels.

‘Trump pretends he is a tough guy. He is nothing of the kind. He grew up spoiled with a silver spoon in his mouth and a gold toilet under his butt. He was handed everything. That is why the majority of America & the UN laughs at him and calls him a con. But at least Putin is a fan,’ Avenatti tweeted.

Then, addressing Trump’s call to ‘look at his past record and relationships,’ Avenatti responded: ‘Trump doesn’t even know anything about my background. Knows nothing about my history of over $1 Billion in verdicts and settlements. I have represented Republicans and Democrats. I have represented hard working people throughout this nation.’

Trump also hit Avenatti in remarks at the UN, where he tied the lawyer, who is exploring a run for president, to congressional Democrats.

‘It’s a con game they’re playing. They’re bringing people out of the woods. They can do that to anybody,’ Trump said.

‘And if you look at this lawyer who came out … he represents Democrats. It’s a horrible con game,’ Trump said.

Julie Swetnick, Kavanaugh’s new accuser, released a sworn statement through Avenatti saying that Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were there as she was abused by a ‘train’ of teenage boys.

She said she was drugged ‘using Quaaludes or something similar’ which had been put in her drink – and that Kavanaugh and his friends would spike ‘punch’ at parties with grain alcohol or drugs to ’cause girls to lose inhibitions and their ability to say ‘No’.’

Swetnick, who says she has worked for the State Department and other government agencies including Homeland Security, accused Kavanaugh of being part of a group of boys abusing her.

‘In approximately 1982, I became the victim of one of those ‘gang’ or ‘train’ rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present,’ she said in the statement.

‘During the incident, I was incapacitated without my consent and unable to fight off the boys raping me,’ she stated.

Trump blasted Avenatti, who had corresponded with the Judiciary Committee for a few days before releasing the allegations, in advance of a Senate panel hearing on Kavanaugh with another accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

Kavanaugh’s lawyer,  Beth Wilkinson, also blasted Avenatti, saying if he was in possession of such serious information he should have immediately gone to the police.

Earlier, before Avenatti brought forward the latest charge, but with two women attaching their name to accusations against Kavanaugh, Trump said Republicans should have jammed the nomination through before the accusations came out.

‘They could have pushed it through two weeks ago and we wouldn’t be talking about this right now, which is what I would have preferred,’ the president said as he entered the United Nations Wednesday.

Kavanaugh denied the new bombshell charges. ‘This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone,’ he said in a statement released by the White House. ‘I don’t know who this is and this never happened,’ he said.
