Turia Pitt biopic ‘on hold’ after Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok was set to play the inspirational athlete and burns victim in movie

A planned movie about Turia Pitt starring Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok has stalled.

In 2019 Tammin, 40, announced she was set to play the courageous athlete who sustained horrific burn injuries to 64 per cent of her body in a wildfire 12 years ago.

But Turia told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday that further talks with the U.S. based actress have been put off.

‘That was on the cards but not at the moment,’ the mother of two said of the proposed biopic.

She added: ‘It is not something that is at the top of my priority list. Every day, I am not like, ”let’s try and get this movie made”. I am not doing that at all.’

‘Whether or not a film gets made, I don’t really think it is in my control.

‘I think I would be (involved),” she said. ‘That would be really weird if someone made a movie and I just saw it on the TV. That would be quite strange.’

In 2011 the 36-year-old mother of two survived against the odds after getting caught in a wildfire while competing in an ultramarathon in Western Australia.

The Celebrity Apprentice star was left with horrific burns to 64 percent of her body and later became a motivational speaker.

Earlier this year, she opened up about the aftermath of the tragedy 11 years on, and said she ‘wanted to die’ during the early stages of her hospitalisation.

Fortunately, Turia found the will to live and she went on to become a successful motivational speaker who has shared her story with thousands of people.

Turia recently said ‘she’s ‘proud’ of her relationship with her fiancé Michael Hoskin a decade on from the traumatic experience that could have split them.
