With a journalism career spanning over four decades, Liz Hayes has admitted there isn’t much that can catch her by surprise, until she interviewed Russell Brand.
In an post on 9Now on Wednesday, the 65-year-old veteran 60 Minutes reporter recalled the time Russell kissed her on lips, before then trying to undo her bra.
‘Seasoned as I am as a journalist, I am prepared for all events and all kinds of people, and when Russell Brand decided he would like to kiss me, well, you size up the situation. You think, “Mmm-hmm. Am I in danger?” What could go wrong?’ she said.

Liz interviewed the outrageous 46-year-old comedian back in 2012, just months after his high profile split from Katy Perry.
Archived footage from the interview saw Russell hijacking a golf cart from a Hollywood film studio, before taking a terrified Liz on a joy ride through the backlot and eventually crashing into set.
‘I’m a tricky little swine. I’m a trickster. I’m a raven. I’m a playful coyote looking for mischief,’ Russell warned her.

Liz acknowledged that ‘when you interview Russell Brand you don’t really know who’s going to show up’, something she discovered first-hand when he kissed her.
As they said their goodbyes at the end of the interview, Russell told Liz it had ‘been really a wonderful experience’.
He then cupped her face in his hands and kissed her on the lips, leaving her stunned and repeating his name like a mother reprimanding a child.
