A judge has labelled a pair of identical twins ‘Tweedledum and Tweedledee’ for their shocking history of alcohol-fuelled violence.

Joel and Kyle Spiteri’s latest victim was left a ‘broken man’ after he was bashed by the brothers outside a Prahran nightclub, Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday.

Kyle landed the first punch, which shattered the 23-year-old victim’s nose, before Joel unleashed his own barrage of blows, video obtained by Seven News shows.

Joel, a former Muay Thai Fighter, had previously been sentenced to two suspended jail terms, while his brother had breached a community corrections order, according to the network.

Their lawyer said on Monday they should escape a prison sentence for reasons including their parents’ divorce and the fact they were bullied at school.

But the Magistrate said the pair had too often caused trouble together and handed them both jail sentences.

Joel will spend six months behind bars, while Kyle was given a five-month term.

The pair have also been banned from entering nightclubs, pubs and bars for 24 months.
