Twitter goes wild over a howling dog singing Britney Spears’ Toxic

A dog has become an online star after his owner shared an incredible video of him singing the Britney Spears’ hit ‘Toxic.’

Matt Hardin, a teen from Arkansas, took to Twitter on Friday to share the hilarious footage of his pooch Riley unknowingly howling the song’s catchy introduction.

‘Is it just me or does Riley sound like he’s singing Toxic by Britney Spears?’ he asked, and Twitter replied with a resounding ‘yes.’

The short black and white clip, which was originally shared on Snapchat, shows Riley standing on a wooden bench while howling at the moon. 

Whether he knows the song or not, the dog’s cries sound just like the opening of Toxic, and people are going wild over the clip.

‘Its Britney, b***h,’ one Twitter user responded, while Carlie Hanson couldn’t resist sharing the opening line of the song, writing: ‘Baby can’t you see…’   

Others praised Riley for his epic performance and spot-on Britney Spears impersonation.

‘He’s on key too?’ someone named Max tweeted, while another person asked: ‘When does his album drop?’

‘Riley is a legend,’ one Twitter user gushed. 

And then there were the true fans who created brilliant mashups of Riley’s singing and Britney’s ‘Toxic’ music video. 

In just three days, the clip has been viewed more than 4.7 million times, and some have admitted that they can’t stop watching it. 

‘I’ve watched this 20 times,’ a woman named Faith wrote.’

So far, Matt’s Twitter post has been retweeted more than 171,00 times and has earned over 421,000 ‘likes,’ and people can’t get enough of it.

He explained that he brought Riley outside with him to watch a storm that was brewing when the dog started howling, something he normally doesn’t do.   

It suddenly occurred to Matt that he should film Riley because he was being so ‘adorable.’

‘I ended up capturing the Britney Spears moment that he was having,’ he said. ‘After the video had ended, I rewatched it probably about 30 times and I was like, OK this sounds oddly familiar.’

Matt said he kept on listening to the clip until it finally dawned on him that Riley was singing the introduction to ‘Toxic.’ 

‘I’m like, oh my God. I looked at him, and I was like, “Riley you just sang Britney Spears,’ he said, noting that his dog then ran and jumped on his lap.  

‘I guess he knew that he was serving vocals, that he was being a true legend in that moment, and then I posted it on Twitter and here were are.’

According to Matt, Britney has yet to see the video, but he knows exactly how he will react if he finds out she has watched it.   

‘If she sees the video, I am probably going to pass out and immediately just drop dead right then and there,’ he explained.
