A Secret Service agent and another agency employee are getting sent home after helping prepare for President Joe Biden’s trip.
One of the men allegedly got involved in an argument with a local cab driver in a ‘alcohol-fueled incident,’ just as Biden begins his first trip to Asia as president.
The incident was reported in local media and by ABC News, which reported the ‘alcohol-fueled incident’ led to the filing of a police report.
One of the employees was identified as an armed physical security specialist. They are part of a substantial contingent here in South Korea to prepare for the president’s visit.
The incident took place after a night of bar-hopping. The agents allegedly became intoxicated and an agent got in a ‘heated argument’ with a cab driver, sources told the network.

‘The Secret Service is aware of an off-duty incident involving two employees which may constitute potential policy violations,’ a spokesman told the network, saying there was no impact on Biden’s trip.
‘The individuals will be immediately returned back to their post of duty and placed on administrative leave … We have very strict protocols and policies for all employees and we hold ourselves to the highest professional standards.’
The incident follows a series of high-profile scandals for the agency, which brought congressional investigations and reforms. That includes a 2012 incident involving boozing and solicitation of prostitution in advance of a trip by President Barack Obama.
A pair of agents were ‘likely’ impaired when they drove a government vehicle through a secure White House area in 2015, an IG found.
A Secret Service spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a request for additional comment.
