Two cute polar bear cubs have been photographed frolicking in the snow with their proud mother.

The adorable snaps show the cubs exploring the world as they venture outdoors for the first time since their birth.

From rolling around on the ground to falling into snow dens, Aleksey Rodak, 43, captured the shots last month at Novosibirsk Zoo, Russia.

Aleksey, an amateur photographer and engineering builder, said: ‘This was the first time the mother bear, known as Gerda, showed her cubs to the visitors outside of the closed enclosure.

Gerda and her mate, Kay, already have two older cubs – Shilka and Rostik – but this time Gerda had two cubs at once, leaving the new mum with her hands full.

Aleksey added: ‘The gender or names of the cubs are not known yet, but this enclosure is the most popular in our zoo. All day there were lots of visitors observing this cute family.’
