A two-time Olympic silver medallist has been charged with drug possession and dealing in an undercover police operation in Western Australia.

Cyclist Jack Bobridge, 28, was arrested Wednesday after police and sniffer dogs searched his Yokine home, according to Perth Now.

Bobridge fronted Perth’s Magistrates Court Thursday over six charges, including five for possession and a sixth for the alleged sale of hundreds of ecstasy tablets.

The three-time Olympian had been charged as part of Operation Inception, which targeted drug dealing at licensed venues in Perth’s entertainment district.

Police alleged that Mr Bobridge sold large quantities of MDMA, including one batch of up to 146 pills, according to Seven West Media.

The sales were believed to have occurred in multiple Perth suburbs between March and July.

While police opposed Bail, Mr Bobridge was released on strict conditions including paying $10,000 and turning over his passport.

A second co-accused man has reportedly already fronted court and will return to face charges next month over the sale of prohibited drugs.

The police operation has so far seized drugs with an estimated street value of $1.1million and seen 61 people charged.

Bobridge retired from professional cycling late last year due to issues with rheumatoid arthritis.

His career saw him scoop three world championships gold medals and four Commonwealth Games gold medals.

He also broke the individual pursuit world record in 2011 and claimed two Olympic silver medals – including one at last year’s Rio Olympics.

At the time of his retirement Bobridge said the physical strain of professional cycling had exacerbated his health condition.

‘Backing off the training and racing load I’ve found my arthritis has been 100 percent better. And I’ve been able to get off all (medication) as well,’ he said.
