Two women die after smash involving police vehicle

Two women have died after a crash involving a car and a police vehicle.

The collision happened on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot, Berkshire, just before 4pm on Tuesday.

The driver and passenger in the car died.

The families of each have been informed and are receiving help from specially trained officers, according to a statement from Thames Valley Police on Twitter.

The incident, which took place on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot, Berkshire, just before 4pm on Tuesday, has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for review

The road was closed for several hours following the crash, but has now re-opened.

 ‘Two women sadly died following the collision which involved a car and a Thames Valley Police vehicle in Bath Road,’ said an IOPC spokesman.

‘The investigation follows a mandatory referral from Thames Valley Police and IOPC investigators were deployed to the scene.’

The force told MailOnline they would not be commenting further on the incident after it was referred to the IOPC.
