A two-year-old boy was wandering outside his home in a Bronx neighborhood on Christmas morning before being found by a neighbor.

Luis Angel Guzman managed to open the front door of his family’s apartment around 10am while his aunt and grandfather were sleeping.

The child, wearing only a diaper, then walked outside shortly after his mother, Lusenny Guzman, left to buy juice from a nearby store, according to the New York Post.

Melvin said Luis was standing on the steps and the door behind him was wide open when she found him.

‘The baby must have just walked out of the house,’ she said.

Melvin told the Post that she wasn’t able to get anyone to answer the door at the child’s home so she took him to her parent’s house and dressed him in clothing that belonged to her own toddler.

She then dropped the baby off at a local firehouse.

EMS arrived to the fire department and took Luis home where his worried mother was waiting.

The mother told the Post that she is ‘very grateful’ to Melvin for making sure her son was safe.
