‘Break a f****** rib, I like it!’ Tyson Fury revels in bizarre punishing training drill that sees his father relentlessly pummel him with a medicine ball to his torso

  • Tyson Fury uploaded punishing  medicine ball drill onto his Instagram account
  • The Gypsy King though seemed to enjoy the relentless onslaught handed to him
  • He demanded his father to ‘break a f****** rib throughout the video

Tyson Fury isn’t known for being conventional and he certainly has an alternative way of heading into the weekend compared to the majority of people.

Yet, is that kind of approach that also makes the Gypsy King a boxing champion, having recently defeated Deontay Wilder for a second time to retain the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles.

Still, you can understand why Fury’s understanding of that ‘Friday feeling’ isn’t for everyone as he uploaded a bizarre and punishing training drill to his Instagram account.

Tyson Fury shouts at his father John to throw down a medicine ball onto his torso

Laying on his back, he allows his father John to relentlessly pummel down a medicine ball onto his torso.

For some, this sounds like torture, but Fury revels in the exercise as he shouts ‘break a f****** rib, I like it’ before continuously shouting ‘break one’ as he turns his body so that both sides don’t escape the pummelling.

The clip is made even more bizarre when the background music inside the gym, features the calming tones of Kings of Leon’s hit 2008 song ‘Use Somebody’.

Wilder uploaded his clip to Instagram, captioning it by saying: ‘When you hit that Friday feeling & someone trying to put a dampener on it. @gypsyjohnfury #spartans #undefeated #champ.’

Following his trilogy victory over Wilder, the Brit’s next bout could come up against compatriot Dillian Whyte.

However, Fury has been blasted by promoter Eddie Hearn for his financial demands ahead of a potential title defence.

Hearn was left ‘outraged’ by Fury’s apparent demands for an 80 per cent split of the purse to face Whyte.

Hearn and Whyte were confident the WBC would confirm the Body Snatcher as Fury’s mandatory opponent on Tuesday night at the annual meeting between the presidents of the IBF, WBA and WBO.

However, the WBC chose not to order a mandatory heavyweight title fight for their belt due Whyte’s legal proceedings with the board. As a result, a fight between the Whyte and Fury is currently on hold.

Hearn is confident that Whyte will win his legal battle against the WBC, but worries Fury’s financial demands could disrupt their plans for a fight.

When asked if the purse split would prevent the fight between Fury and Whyte from happening, Hearn told iFL TV: ‘Possibly. That’s almost secondary to the fight being ordered.

‘The interim champion can receive up to 45 percent of a purse split and I believe it should be towards those kinds of levels.

‘I saw Top Rank talk about 20 per cent [at the WBC convention]. That’s outrageous, but that’s something to be left to them.

‘The problem is time. We need to move forward, and it is closing in, and I’m confident that it’ll be a ruling that is fair to Dillian Whyte.’
