Tyson Fury vs David Haye would be ‘huge’, admits Frank Warren after ex-heavyweight champion called out ‘big fat dosser’ Gypsy King… but promoter insists Anthony Joshua is the focus

  • David Haye revealed he is confident he would beat Tyson Fury as his ‘kryptonite’
  • Veteran Haye made his return to the ring and then called out ‘big fat dosser’ Fury
  • Fury’s promoter Frank Warren admitted a fight between the two would be ‘huge’
  • But he is also adamant that Fury’s camp remains fully fixated on Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has admitted a clash with David Haye would be ‘huge’, but insisted the heavyweight superstar’s focus is fully on Anthony Joshua.

Haye, despite now being 40 years of age, revealed recently that he would step back into professional boxing to take on Fury, claiming he would be his ‘kryptonite’.

And Warren, while pointing out Haye’s ‘bad injuries’ in the past, said that a showdown between Fury and the veteran may be a mouth-watering prospect.

‘I’ve got a lot of respect for David but he’s 40. I mean, he’s not a youngster but he’s not 58,’ Warren told iFL TV.

‘He suffered some bad injuries and certainly against Tony Bellew… I’m in shock to be quite honest because I fancied David Haye.

‘Having said that, he obviously had these injuries and he shouldn’t have been in the ring in the first place.

‘I don’t know whether he’s got rid of the injuries or not.

‘I’m sure he’s calling out Tyson because him and Tyson, let’s get it right, would be a huge fight.

‘But I think he’s got to do a bit more before talking about Tyson Fury.

‘For No 1, he’d have to get rated, and to get rated you’ve got to fight a rated fighter.’

Haye made his comeback in the ring at the weekend, beating Joe Fournier on the undercard of Evander Holyfield’s defeat at the hands of Vitor Belfort in Florida.

The fight came more than three years on from when Haye lost to Bellew, having gone down by TKO in the fifth round.

But he was bullish when calling out Fury, and labelled him a ‘big fat dosser’.

‘I know how to beat Tyson Fury, I really do,’ Haye said. ‘I’m being deadly serious.

‘I understand why he’s so effective and no-one else can see it. I’m good enough still to do it. I would have done it back in 2013. He knows it.’

Warren, however, has indicated that Fury’s camp will look beyond Haye’s comments, with the Battle of Britain grudge match against Joshua still their priority.

‘Fury and Joshua is the only fight we want to see,’ he added.

‘But they’ve got to deal with what they’ve got in front of them first because we’ve been down this road for about a year now.’
