Uber introduces new multi-stop feature before you set off

  • Uber has introduced a ‘multiple destination’ feature to users globally
  • Users can add up to three destinations for the driver to stop at on the journey
  • Riders can split the fare if they want using the ‘Split Fare’ feature 

The days of having to ask your Uber driver to change the end destination mid-journey so you can drop a friend off will soon be a thing of the past.  

Uber has introduced a multiple destination feature, letting riders add up to three stops to their trip.

The new feature has been rolled out to users globally from today.

HOW TO ADD MULTIPLE STOPS 

– Open your Uber app and tap ‘Where to?’

– Tap the ‘+’ next to the ‘Where to?’ box

– Add up to three addresses of stops you’d like to make

– Request a car and watch your vehicle arrive in real time

– Should you need to make changes during your trip, you can also add and remove stops in real time

– The driver will automatically be given directions to each stop.

Uber announced the new feature in a blog today.

A spokesperson said: ‘This new feature means that users no longer have to update the destination while on a trip and ensures more transparency on the fare for both riders and drivers.’

To add multiple stops to your journey, open your Uber app and tap ‘Where to?’

Next, tap the ‘+’ icon next to the ‘Where to?’ box.

You can add up to three addresses of stops you’d like to make.

Finally, request a car and watch your vehicle arrive in real time.

Should you need to make changes during your trip, you can also add and remove stops in real time.

The driver will automatically be given directions to each stop.

The Uber spokesperson added: ‘If you’re sharing a trip, it’s easy to split the fare through the app.

‘Once you’ve requested a car, select “Split Fare”, select your friends contacts and tap “Send”.

‘The trip will be divided equally and charged to your friend’s Uber accounts – just like a normal trip.’ 

The announcement comes just a day after the ride-hailing giant unveiled a new no-fee, co-branded credit card with British bank Barclays that it hopes becomes a major part of consumers’ everyday spending habit.

While it will use points, the Uber Visa Card is designed as a cash-back loyalty program. 

Uber’s new Visa card will roll out nationwide on November 2. 

UBER’S CREDIT CARD 

Uber’s credit card is being marketed as a digital credit card first and a physical card second.

Uber customers will be able to apply for the card within the Uber app, with most of the personal information needed for the credit card application pulled directly from their Uber profile.

If approved, the card can be immediately loaded into a customers’ mobile wallet. 

The goal, Uber’s David Richter said, is to have people applying, getting approved, loading the card and paying for the ride with the card all while the customer is being taken to their destination.

Paying for an Uber ride will get the cardholder 2 percent cash back, among other rewards.
