UFC star Sean O’Malley clapped back at Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, who accused him of ‘greasing’ during their title fight at UFC 299.

On Saturday, Suga Sean dominated Vera in a rematch of their 2020 fight in which the Ecuadorian won via TKO in the first round. This time, O’Malley scored 50-45 on two judges’ cards and 50-44 on another to secure his first bantamweight title defense.

On Wednesday, Vera took to X (formerly Twitter) with the accusation during the fight in Miami. O’Malley, however, had a simple response that diminished Vera’s questionable claims.

‘Who braid your hair @SugaSeanMMA you where grease (greased) to the bone,’ Vera wrote. ‘I wonder how much gel they use?’

The champion reposted the tweet and wrote, ‘Send pic of your face.’

Vera looked unrecognizable after 25 minutes as O’Malley’s precise striking caused swelling around both his eyes and a cut under his right.

Despite failing to finish his opponent, O’Malley landed 232 out of 358 total strikes and 230 out of 356 significant strikes. On the other hand, Vera landed just 89 of his 241 strikes.

With the win, O’Malley avenged the only loss in his record – one that he always deemed invalid. In their first meeting, O’Malley sustained an injury on his right leg and struggled to stay on his feet until he was finished.

O’Malley claimed that Vera hit a peroneal nerve with a kick and caused his leg to shut down during an exchange. Before his defeat, O’Malley landed 10 of 21 total strikes, while Vera landed 18 of 30. He quickly shrugged off the loss and went on a five-fight win streak before knocking Aljamain Sterling out to win the title in August.

O’Malley improved to an 18-1 MMA record and moved to the sixth spot in the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings behind featherweight champion Ilia Topuria – who he appears keen on fighting.

Postfight, O’Malley called for the featherweight title fight in Spain. Many, however, argue that he should stay in the bantamweight division and defend the title against No. 1 contender Merab Dvalishvili.

Vera, 23-9-1 (W-L-D), remains the fifth-ranked UFC bantamweight after losing his title challenge.
