A British film and TV studio behind shows such as The Kardashians is merging with a US rival co-founded by LeBron James.
Fulwell 73, a London-based production house, has struck a deal with the US basketball star’s outfit The SpringHill Company that will include a £32million investment to fuel its growth.
The tie-up is backed by heavy hitters including Liverpool FC owner Fenway Sports Group, in which James holds a small stake, and Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly as well as sports clothing giant Nike and Fortnite maker Epic Games.
SpringHill, which was founded by James and sports marketer Maverick Carter in 2020, counts tennis star Serena Williams among its directors while Fulwell 73 is co-owned by a group that includes James Corden.
Fulwell is named after a stand at Sunderland AFC’s former stadium and 73 refers to the 1973 FA Cup final, the last major trophy the team won.
Three of the firm’s founders are fans of the club.
