UK mum amazed to learn about the Pied Piper Duck Fashion Parade at the Sydney Royal Easter Show: ‘Why have you kept this a secret?’

A British woman has discovered something very unique about Australia and says it’s what the country should be famous for.

Tasha was amazed to find Sydney puts on its own ‘duck fashion show’ every year as part of the annual Royal Easter Show where a line of the birds don elaborate period costumes and are paraded down a runway.

The Brit said she has ‘never wanted to go to Australia more’ and said she can’t believe the country has kept the novelty event a ‘secret’ for so long.

She shared the revelation online sending thousands into hysterics while many Australians admitted they had no idea the duck show existed.

‘The people from Sydney, Australia have been keeping a huge secret from the rest of the world I feel,’ Tasha said in a TikTok clip.

Tasha, from the UK was shocked to learn Sydney hosts an annual duck fashion show. She said ‘never wanted to go to Australia more’ and can’t believe Aussies have kept it a secret

‘Let me tell you if this was happening where I lived, I would be shouting it from the rooftops every minute of the day.’

Every year as part of Sydney’s Royal Easter Show, there is the Pied Piper Duck Show that has been happening for more than 30 years.

Organised by farmer Brian Harrington, each duck struts the catwalk three times in different outfits; a daytime loo, evening looking and wedding look.

The vintage-themed numbers are intricately sewn with frills, lace, bows, hats, capes and colourful patterns.

‘Why have we not heard of this? And yes it is everything you hoped for and more,’ Tasha said showing images she’d found of the vibrant parade of duck models.

‘How have you kept this so quiet? Look at the detail in that costume.’

Tasha gushed over one duck in a blue bird-print cape and another she called a ‘lady in red’.

‘People talking about Steve Irwin and kangaroos and stuff for Australia, this is what you guys should be famous for,’ she said.

‘I’ve never wanted to go to Australia more in my life.’

Tasha’s video racked up more than 471,000 views and had people reeling over the ‘adorable’ event.

‘What the hell? The other day I’ve heard Melbourne has a garlic bread festival, now a duck fashion show?’ one person said.

‘I’m gonna need somebody to organise a UK duck fashion show,’ a second wrote while a third suggested: ‘Need this in a Bluey episode’.

‘Love! They look like Beatrix Potter characters,’ someone pointed out.

‘EXCUSE ME! I am so upset with all of my Australian friends for keeping this secret from me,’ one woman added.

Many compared the ducks in the fashion show to the two British geese, Abigail and Amelia, in the classic Disney movie The Aristocats while others likened them the hit TV show Bridgerton.

Even some Australians had no idea the high-flying event took place.

‘We have a ducks fashion show? Where the heck have I been?’ one Aussie asked.

‘I was born and raised in Sydney and have been to the Easter Show over a dozen times. I had no idea this was a thing,’ another said.

‘The secret is so well kept even us Australians don’t know about it,’ laughed a third.
