  • Beloved skincare brand Ultra Violette has launched its Dream Screen skin tint
  • The product, which is a world-first, contains SPF 50+ protection for your face
  • It’s designed to be worn over your regular sunscreen for extra protection
  • The ‘tinted skin veil’ launches online November 22 and retails for $55

Australian sunscreen brand Ultra Violette has launched a world-first foundation that contains SPF 50+ and it comes in 11 different shades.

Founded by two girls who befriended each other while working at MECCA, the business debuted its Dream Screen ‘skin veil’ ($55) on Monday to a very eager audience.

‘Meet Dream Screen SPF 50, the lightweight tinted skin serum you’ve been blowing up our DMs about since forever,’ the brand wrote.

It contains iron oxides which increase your protection against visible light and UVA radiation, both of which play a role in developing pigmentation, saccharide isomerate which moisturises the skin and rice bran wax to fight the signs of premature ageing.

Designed to be worn on top of your choice of regular sunscreen, this product adds a layer of colour and extra protection should you be outside for long periods of time.

In order to get the full 50+ protection 1/4 of a teaspoon of the skin veil would need to be applied to the face, hence why the brand recommends starting with a small layer of your own sunscreen first.

However, if you’re willing to apply enough – and reapply – the full 50+ rating will hold true.

It will be available to purchase at Sephora in a few weeks time but until then the company website is selling the product and shipping its first batch out on November 26.

‘Absolutely cannot wait for this,’ one woman wrote on Instagram.

‘So excited for mine (I got it in the pre-order today),’ said another.

While there was some disappointment over the range of colours on offer, Ultra Violette assured its loyal fan base that they were working on more.

‘We may only have 11 now but we’re working on a plan to make this even more inclusive,’ a spokesperson for the team said.

Ultra Violette was created by Ava Chandler-Matthews and Bec Jefferd and launched in January 2019.

The brand is known for its easy-to-wear sunscreen products which cater to those with sensitive skin, that want physical protection instead of chemical and hydration over a matte finish.
