A University of Maryland student was attacked on campus by a man wielding a baseball bat.
The attack occurred just before 11pm Friday outside the Stamp Student Union, university police say.
Two male students got into a verbal altercation with people in a passing car, reports the Diamondback, the university’s independent student newspaper.

At one point, a male passenger in the car got out and followed the students.
The passenger then went back to the car and retrieved a baseball bat, striking one of the two students, police say.
The student was treated and released at a hospital.
Police say they identified the driver and passenger of the car who swung the bat, and they expect to file charges.
The suspects are not university students, police say.
The University of Maryland is a public university located in College Park and has around 40,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The university is less than 10 miles from Washington DC.
