University of Sydney students strip off for naked calendar for cause ‘close to their hearts’

Vet your kit off! Students strip naked and pose with animals for a cheeky nude calendar to raise money for drought-stricken farmers

  • Students from the University of Sydney stripped bare to raise money for drought-stricken farmers
  • More than 60 trainee veterinary students posed nude for the fundraising calendar
  •  The photographer hid her subjects’ modesty with strategically placed dogs, pigs, sheep and other animals

Dozens of students from the University of Sydney braved the early spring breeze this month to strip off in the name of a good cause.

A group of trainee vets shed their clothes to pose nude for a charity calendar in aid of New South Wales’ drought-stricken farmers, as the agriculture industry continues to struggle with this years’ ruinous lack of winter rainfall.

Students from the veterinary science course joined together in solidarity and nudity to raise funds for the annual Buy for Bales appeal weeks after the warmest, driest July in 20 years.

This year’s calendar was shot by award winning Sydney-based photographer Marilu Garozzo, and comes in the wake of Australia’s most intense drought in a almost a century.

Ms Garozzo cleverly hid her subjects’ modesty with strategically placed dogs, pigs, sheep and other farm animals.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, calendar coordinator and fourth year veterinary student Molly Greentree said the farming appeal was a cause ‘close to their hearts’.

‘What we study as a lot to do with farming so we know first-hand the seriousness of drought and how it can impact our farmers,’ she said.

Ms Greentree said the huge turnout of volunteers for the shoot was testament to the passion felt at the University for drought relief.

The University hope to generate funds of $10,000 for the appeal, which will go towards the delivery of hay and other essential items.
