Urban Outfitters is selling $59 leggings and a bra as an ‘INFLUENCER Halloween costume’

Urban Outfitters has made headlines this week for unveiling an ‘influencer’ Halloween costume featuring leggings and a sports bra for $59.

Listing ‘social media influencer’ as a potential job has become more and more prominent with the rise of YouTube and Instagram. And now popular clothing brand Urban Outfitters is attempting to capitalize on the job profession with the release of a new Halloween costume.

On its website, the clothing brand labeled one outfit an ‘Influencer Halloween Costume Set’ and features a woman wearing leggings, a sports bra, a gray jacket and baseball cap.

The model wearing the bizarre Halloween costume looks similar to that of Kim Kardashian, 37, who helped lead the influencer revolution on social media.

She is wearing a platinum blonde wig matching the hairstyle Kim has sported in recent months as well as large black sunglasses.

So for just a small payment of $59, other people can also take part in wearing the most bizarre and some have said ‘laziest’ costume to be a social media influencer for the holiday.

‘Channel Instagram style in this low key costume set worthy of a superstar influencer,’ Urban wrote in the product description.

Both the sports bra and leggings come in ‘tonal hues’ for the athleisure look that has swept the fashion industry.

Despite the model wearing a blond wig, chunky sneakers, baseball cap and sunglasses in the promo pictures for the costume, the brand is clear those are all sold separately.

To get the complete look, the blonde wig ($16), FILA sneakers ($70), hat and shades ($24) and jacket ($99) bring the costume to a whopping $209.

Funny: People online decided to make fun of the bizarre costume by using references to Mean Girls and calling the look 'lazy'

Since Urban unveiled the costume on its website, people have taken to social media to express their shock that someone would actually want to buy it.

One person called it a ‘weak costume’ while another said all that was missing was ‘flat tummy tea’, which is a product often promoted by members of the Kardashian family.

Another person wrote: ‘You see where Urban Outfitters is selling a “social media influencer” Halloween costume? It’s a sports bra and some leggings hahahaha.’

This was in response to someone saying girls would be holding ‘photo shoots in parking garages’ while wearing the costume because they would think it made them look like models.

Other people have compared the costume to Kanye West’s clothing line.

‘Literally Yeezy season 5,’ a Twitter user wrote online.

For anyone wanting to wear a comfortable athleisure look for Halloween this year, most recommended saving the $59 and finding pieces in their own closet since the costume is such a simple look to create.
