Urgent alert over Huggies baby product sold at Woolworths

Nappies from a popular brand has been recalled after batches of products were found to contain a bacteria that causes ‘serious infections’.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission flagged limited edition Huggies Fragrance Free products sold at Woolworths which feature the Little Mermaid and Toy Story’s Rex dinosaur designs on the packaging.

Anyone who purchased a single 80 wipe pack or a value box with three packs between October 1 last year and January 6 this year, is urged to stop using the product immediately and return it for a full refund.

Testing found batches were contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia bacteria which can have severe health implications for people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of the illness can include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, wheezing, fever, coughing and congestion.

The ACCC says customers should take a photo showing the affected batch codes, then dispose of or destroy the product and contact Kimberly-Clark Australia to arrange for a replacement, gift card or refund.

‘Consumers will be asked to provide a photograph to show that the product has been disposed of or destroyed,’ the ACCC said.

‘If the product has already been disposed of or destroyed, consumers are asked to notify supplier Kimberly-Clark Australia so that the safe disposal of the products can be monitored.’

‘We have made the decision to recall two batches of our Huggies Thick Baby Wipes Fragrance Free – Limited Edition, Tropical (The Little Mermaid and Toy Story, Rex (dinosaur) designs) (80s and 3x80s pack) – sold exclusively through Woolworths in Australia.’
