Urgent search launched after a man, 28, allegedly fled police custody

An urgent search has been launched for a man who allegedly escaped police custody more than 12 hours ago.

Mulla Altinok, 28, was last seen on Meredith Street, in Bankstown, in Sydney’s west, at about 6.30am on Saturday.

Altinok remains on the run with an investigation launched to find him.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 165cm tall, with a solid build and shaved head.

He also has numerous tattoos on his upper body.

Altinok was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved top with a white collar, grey tracksuit pants and no shoes.

Police have urged anyone who sees Altinok to not approach him but call triple zero immediately.
