US Border Patrol agent in Texas is suspected of murdering four women and abducting a fifth, authorities say

  • Juan David Ortiz was arrested on Saturday morning 
  • Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar announced the arrest at a news conference
  • Three bodies have been found in the northwest area of the county this month 
  • Cuellar said authorities are investigating whether there may be a fourth body 

A US Border Patrol agent in Texas is suspected of having murdered four women and abducted a fifth, authorities have reported.

Juan David Ortiz was arrested on Saturday morning but charges have yet to be filed, Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar said at a news conference later in the day.  

Three bodies have been found in the northwest area of the county this month.

The third was discovered either Friday night or early Saturday.

Cuellar said authorities are investigating whether there may be a fourth body.
