USA stun Pakistan at the T20 Cricket World Cup in a Super Over in Texas as minnows continue their perfect start to the tournament

  • Pakistan was unable to match USA’s score of 19 runs in a dramatic super over

USA pulled off one of the greatest cricketing upsets in recent memory after prevailing in a dramatic super over against Pakistan at the T20 World Cup.

After Pakistan set a score of 159 in their innings, late heroics from Aaron Jones helped America snatch the same amount and force the super over at Texas’ Grand Prairie Stadium.

It was there where the hosts produced a sensational upset; racking up a superb 19 runs before shutting out Pakistan for 13 to claim a major scalp in the group stage.

USA have made a perfect start to this summer’s tournament, having beaten Canada in their opening fixture over the weekend.

And now they head into their third outing next Wednesday against India, another cricketing super-power, knowing they have what it takes to defy the odds.

Before the super over, USA only lost three wickets after openers Steven Taylor and Monank Patel were caught for 12 and 50 respectively.

Andries Gous was bowled for 35, before Jones put up 36 and Nitish Kumar scored 14.
