Usyk brands Tyson Fury a ‘LUNATIC’ for demanding £500m to fight as he confirms they ARE in talks

Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed he is in negotiations with Tyson Fury over an undisputed title clash next year but claims the gypsy King is demanding £500m for the showpiece event.

Usyk beat Anthony Joshua for a second time via split decision in August to retain his WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles. Now the Ukrainian boxer is looking to add Fury’s WBC belt to his collection. 

Usyk has said he is not ‘interested in fighting any other boxer’ as he wants to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, he has said the deal could fall through because of Fury’s ‘crazy’ demands.

Usyk has said his team are ‘doing their best’ to secure an undisputed title clash next year but admitted negotiations are still ongoing.  

Speaking to Parimatch, Usyk said: ‘I don’t know anything about what Tyson Fury is doing or thinking. We’re in negotiations talking about a match and we’re doing our best to make this bout happen.

‘Of course, I really want to have this fight next year. But, if Tyson Fury is not interested in a match next year, then it’s not possible to fight against him. I’m not interested in fighting any other boxer, so let’s wait.

‘He’s talking about £500million pounds for the fight. He’s a lunatic, but in a good sense I mean. I’d also want £500m, but it’s something crazy.’

The WBC champion is keen to fight but is said to be making big demands during negotiations 

‘I’m convinced Tyson Fury is not retired,’ Usyk told Sky Sports through translator and promoter Alexander Krassyuk. ‘I want to fight Tyson Fury, if I’m not fighting Tyson Fury then I’m not fighting at all.’

The Gypsy King was enticed by the prospect of an undisputed showdown if paid enough and declared ‘get your f***ing cheque book out and I will relieve the Ukrainian dosser of the belts’. 

Since then the pair have been back and fourth in negotiations. However, Usyk has admitted he would fight Anthony Joshua for a third time if the undisputed bout with Fury fell through.

The Ukrainian boxer said he would like the fight to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv after previously fighting in London and Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old said: ‘If Fury doesn’t agree I think we could try to have another fight. We already had a match in London and in Saudi Arabia as well, so the next one could be at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv.’

Meanwhile, Joshua is also in negotiations with Fury over a Battle of Britain bout in December this year.

Fury told Joshua he has until 5pm on Monday to sign the contract for their proposed fight  

However, Fury recently said the deal with Joshua was ‘off’ because his fellow Brit missed a deadline of 5pm on Monday afternoon to sign the contract. 

The Gypsy King – who is frustrated with what he perceives to be a lack of movement from Joshua’s camp – posted a video on Instagram minutes after the cut-off passed.

The 34-year-old said he will be moving on to face someone else because Joshua is an ‘idiot’ who ‘didn’t have the minerals’ to take the fight.  

Nevertheless, Eddie Hearn is still confident the fight will go ahead as he believes negotiations are heading in the right direction.
