‘I think [I have an] informal membership, I’m not going to push too hard,’ he said.

Taylor’s squad includes big names, including the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Lena Dunham, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne.

The indie rock singer said of his experience sharing a stage with Taylor: ‘She would get a lot of guests on stage and I have good memories of meeting them.’

The singer-songwriter landed the gig after his Riptide single catapulted him to stardom in 2014.

Playing to die-hard-fans around the world as a support act for Taylor’s 1989 tour, Vance said: ‘[Taylor] would have actresses and actors and crazy famous people, and I was like, ‘Mum and Dad, I met X person! ‘They were like, ‘Really?’ So that was good.’

Touring across Europe, the United States and Australia together, the two became good pals and continue to support one another.

Vance recently praised the singer for her bravery following her harassment trial against DJ David Mueller.

The jury ruled in favour of Taylor in 2017, following an alleged groping incident by the DJ during a meet-and-greet photo session in 2013 at the Pepsi centre.
