Vanfest music festival cancelled due to wild weather

The annual Vanfest music festival in the New South Wales Central West has been cancelled, after wild weather from Victoria flooded the camping grounds.

Vanfest organisers released a statement on Saturday afternoon confirming the two-day festival would have to be cut short.

‘It saddens us to confirm that due to current and forecasted weather conditions, and in the interest of the safety of our patrons and staff, we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of Vanfest 2017,’ officials wrote on Facebook.

But despite the wild weather, festival goers have expressed their disappointment at the organisers.

Many believe the weather will pass over Forbes before the festival begins, but pictures flooding social media show the extent of the weather on the campsite.

Ticket holders have taken to wearing gumboots and raincoats as they made their way through the muddy grounds to pack up their tents.

But while the weather may have stopped the festival, the party will continue tonight at the Vandenberg Hotel.

Vanfest spokesperson Karen Griffin told Daily Mail Australia on Saturday that ticket holders were invited to the hotel to see the remaining artists perform.

‘We’re taking it back to where Vanfest all began actually, the organisers are opening the doors to the Vandenberg Hotel for a free show for ticket holders,’ Ms Griffin said.

While headline acts Tash Sultana and Dean Lewis won’t be at the show, five other acts will be there from 6pm.

Tigertown, Wilsonn, Manalion, Mark Furze and DJ Ox will be putting on a show for those who purchased tickets to the festival.
