Vegemite release a twist on an old classic for $7 a jar

It’s the iconic spread beloved by Australians the country over. And now, Vegemite has had a whole new makeover.

On Wednesday, Kraft released jar called Vegemite Blend 17, which is being advertised as ‘bolder’ and ‘richer’ than the original flavour.

Sold in a gold jar, the new blend is being advertised as ‘premium’ and ‘the adult version of Vegemite’. So how does it measure up to the original?

Kraft have recently released a new jar called Vegemite Blend 17 which is being advertised as ‘bolder’ and ‘richer’, but how does it compare to the original?

A quick glance online reveals commenters divided down the middle as to whether the new flavour is a success.

While some have questioned why they felt the need to bring a new blend to the market – what with the failure of the iSnack 2.0 still fresh in people’s minds – other reviews have been quite positive.

‘I can’t wait to try something bolder,’ one excited customer wrote.

To add to the exclusivity of this jar, only 450,000 have been made, so people have to be quick if they’re interested in giving it a go.

‘I think they might have improved one because this tastes more intense – adult Vegemite, not for kids,’ David Campbell said.

‘You would have this with a matured cheese and a Merlot.’

They also said that the new blend tastes more delicious and that you probably wouldn’t need butter but before long Davina Smith back flipped, eventually claiming it tasted the same as the original.
