Venezuelan grandfather mocks Salt Bae after he hosted President Maduro

A grandfather has mocked Salt Bae for preparing a lavish steak feast for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by sharing a video of himself chopping yucca in the style of the Turkish chef.

The unidentified man, just like the celebrity chef, strikes down a couple of knife chops at large chunk of yucca placed over a kitchen table.

He then caps off his satire by sprinkling salt on the small pieces of yucca and giving himself two thumbs up.

The popular cook, whose real name is Nusret Gokce, drew the ire of Venezuelans after he hosted Maduro and his wife, Cilia, last Friday at his Istanbul Nurs-Et steakhouse and posted video of the gathering on his Instagram page.

Viral images of Salt Bae’s flamboyant style of slicing pieces of steak to Maduro’s delight instantly drew a backlash from Venezuelans.

The video was then deleted.

It created a wave of anger in Venezuela where millions struggle to get enough to eat and red meat the rarest of luxuries.

Salt Bae’s Instagram feed has become a target of Venezuelans who’ve fled the struggling, impoverished country and political opponents and exiles of the leader’s regime.

Images also revealed Salt Bae presenting a box of cigars to Maduro during his brief stop in Turkey before the Venezuelan leader returned home.

President Maduro was also gifted a t-shirt featuring Salt Bae’s likeness.

Maduro said he visited the restaurant for lunch during a two-hour stop in Istanbul.

‘Nusret attended to us personally. We were chatting, having a good time with him. … He loves Venezuela, he told me several times,’ Maduro said.

Maduro had traveled to Beijing in hope of securing fresh funds for his cash-starved socialist government, though he returned only having signed several deals involving Venezuela’s energy sector.
