In a shocking week for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy there is a modicum of positive news for the PGA Tour pinup boys.

The pair’s ‘tech-infused’ golf league, TGL, has announced, and sold, its first team – Los Angeles Golf Club – to the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, Alexis O’Hanlon – husband of Serena – and their daughter, Olympia O’Hanlon, according to multiple reports.

The innovative league backed by TMRW Sports, a company owned by both Woods and McIlroy previously said it will begin early next year, with January slated to be the start month.

It, like the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, has a partnership with the PGA Tour. The league will be made up of six teams comprised of three players.

‘Los Angeles is the perfect home for our TGL team. This city embodies the intersection of sports, technology, and entertainment, making it an ideal backdrop for the innovation and excitement we aim to bring to the world of golf and its fans,’ Alexis Ohanian said via a statement.

‘We see tremendous opportunities to leverage technology to bring golf closer to its fans and to provide an immersive and interactive experience that will captivate both seasoned golf enthusiasts and new fans.’

Woods and McIlroy are naturally competitors in the TGL. Twelve of the 18 players have already been announced.

The golf greats will joined by Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Adam Scott, Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose, Max Homa, Rickie Fowler, and Billy Horschel.

TGL will be hosting two-hour matches in prime time on Monday nights in an arena on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Florida – where the league has already began construction.

According to the tour’s format, there will be 15 matches, a semifinal, and a final to be played.
