Vernon Kay and Tess Daly ‘have SIGNED’ for celebrity edition of The Traitors as show bids to replicate the success of secret mother-and-son duo Diane and Ross from regular series

The celebrity version of The Traitors will reportedly feature Tess Daly and Vernon Kay as a secret duo.

The star-studded spin-off of the BBC’s hit game show recently entered production and while little is known about the project yet, bosses have reportedly signed up a pair of celebrities to act as a duo.

The move is in a similar vein to Diane and Ross from the regular edition of the series last year, who, unbeknownst to the other contestants, were mother and son.

The contestants will obviously be aware that a duo such as Tess  and Vernon are a married couple, or that Andy Murray and Judy Murray are mother and son.

But an insider has claimed that the format will still work and will make for compelling viewing for those at home.

The celebrity version of The Traitors will reportedly feature a famous duo when it hits screens in the coming months 

A source told The Sun: ‘Although the famous couple won’t have any secrecy around the fact they are linked, it will still create huge amounts of suspicion and paranoia and really test allegiances.

‘Will family ties prevent them from stabbing their relative or partner in the back?

‘Would it warp the normal dynamic between the Traitors when it comes time to ‘murder’ their loved ones?’

The insider noted that getting a booking like Tess onto the show would make for ‘compulsory viewing’ because of her relationship with The Traitors host Claudia Winkelman.

In the winter months, the pair present Strictly Come Dancing together and are also close friends outside of work.

 Other celebrity duos touted to be involved include father-and-son duo Harry Redknapp and Jamie Redknapp.

The idea of including two contestants who are secrelty related in some way become one of the most memorable moments of last year’s show when Diane and Ross were revealed to be mother and son.

Or, recently retired tennis champion Andrew Murray could well make an appearance with his mother Judy (left)

Diane recently admitted that she ‘didn’t expect’ the show to bring the the instant fame she has been enjoying ever since.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she explained: ‘Certainly when I signed up for it, I did not expect the popularity, the way my life has changed. 

‘I was just having fun with it. It’s great fun.

‘It depends where I am, certainly where I live, [getting recognsied] doesn’t really happen but if it does, it’s great as well.’
