Vernon Kay leaves BBC Radio 2 host gobsmacked as he reveals how he met his wife Tess Daly… and the Spice Girls were involved!

Vernon Kay left his BBC Radio 2 co-host Scott Mills astonished after he revealed how he first met his wife Tess Daly.

During Friday’s show Vernon, 50, took a trip down the memory lane and fondly recalled how we met his beloved wife of 21 years, Tess.

As Britney Spears’ Stronger faded away on the radio, he shared that the couple had starred in a spoof video for the pop icon’s banger Baby One More Time for 2000s music show Top of the Pops@play.  

‘It was Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly and I, recreated the video for Britney Spears’ ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’. That’s how we first met,’ Vernon revealed. 

‘Yeah, I was dressed…no, she was dressed as Geri Halliwell in the Spice Girls Union Jack dress; I was dressed as Britney Spears in the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ video – It was in a charity shop on Shepherd’s Green, Shepherd’s Bush Green.’

Gobsmacked by the revelation, Scott, who also worked on the show, asked: ‘And for a moment, did you think that it was me instead of your wife?’

‘Well, no, I think we talked about it. I think you teed it up. I think you set it up as, ‘Why don’t you and our new presenter, Tess Daly, go and do this?”,’ Vernon replied.

Tess, 55, and the presenter have been happily married since 2003 and shared two daughters Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14. 

In July, the couple were spotted enjoying a fun-filled night out alongside Phoebe at the star-studded UK launch of Gin & Juice by Dr Dre and Snoop, at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace in West London.

The presenter seemed to be in high spirits as she cut a sensational figure in a high-necked white mini dress, showing off her tanned legs.

Tess paired the ensemble with white boots and a Fendi multi-print shoulder bag, which retails for more than £2,000.

Meanwhile, Vernon looked dapper as he matched his wife and opted for a fitted white jumper, paired with black jeans.

The radio host also added he was dressed as Britney Spears in the video clip of Hit Me Baby One More Time (pictured), her 1999 debut single from her debut studio album of the same name

Meanwhile Phoebe looked the image of her mother as she posed next to her proud parents in a gorgeous red mini dress paired with nude heels.

Tess and Phoebe were twinning as they both wore their blonde locks down, with the latter completing her look with a gold sequin bag.

They seemed to be having an amazing time as they put on an animated display and were all smiles and laughter throughout the evening.
