A 8st mother was mocked by other women after she shared an unsolicited photo of the chicken salad she had for lunch – and offered unwanted advice on how they could do the same.
Describing herself as ‘very slim’, the woman took to Mumsnet post the picture alongside a detailed menu, which included ‘beetroot balls’, M&S chicken slices and fruit with Greek yoghurt for dessert.
She added: ‘My advice (not that anyone asked!) is stuff yourself with healthy food (not nuts etc, limit them!), plates piled high with steamed veg, salad, chicken etc. All so delicious and filling.’
The poster was quickly ridiculed by dozens of other users, who compared her to Gwyneth Paltrow and said she sounded ‘horrendously smug’.
Oversharing? A self-described ‘very slim’ mother took the liberty of sharing a photo of her low calorie lunch on Mumsnet – but other users were not impressed with her ‘smugness’
Mocked: Shocked parents were quick to poke fun at the user’s seemingly self-serving post
One wrote: ‘Well done you! have a pat on the head, do you feel suitably benevolent to the ignorant masses now?’
In the original post, titled ‘If you interested… what a very slim person is having for lunch today’, the woman explained that she was 5ft 7in and weighed 8st.
She said she now exercised six times a week but weighed the same amount even when she exercised twice a week.
Outlining her meal, she claimed it would keep her ‘nicely satisfied’ all afternoon, adding she ‘won’t touch a thing until dinner’.
Sharing is caring: Others shared spoof posts about their own lunch to ridicule the user
While she claimed to be starting a conversation about meals, other Mumsnet users doubted her intentions and called her out on the post.
One woman wrote: ‘Your OP [original post] was all about you and how fabulously slim and healthy you are. You didn’t ask about anyone else, idly wonder about what anyone else was eating, or anything approaching it.’
Others took the opportunity to make fun of the post by sharing their own meals.
One posted: ‘This skinny person had a plate of oily noodles with pork and fried egg for lunch. Tea on the side and biscuits for a snack in the afternoon.’
Gentle advice: Some suggested the poster re-read her message to see how it came across
Another shared: ‘I’m a right fat cow, and I had a cup of black tea for breakfast and two apples for lunch.’
The poster later tried to justify her position and claimed she ‘wasn’t being smug’ and did genuinely want to start a discussion.
She added: ‘I’m sorry. Wasn’t being smug. I suppose I just life being nosy about this sort of thing and I framed it poorly.’
