Veteran’s Day charity event shows eBay bidders pay just $57 for a call with Brain Stelter

A Veteran’s Day fundraiser has bidders vying for half-hour video calls with CNN anchors, actors and comedians as well as signed and novelty items.

There are still seven days left in the Home For Our Troops fundraiser and 138 items to bid on – like an Armani suit that was made for and worn by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer currently going for $165.50.

As of Sunday morning, a 30 minute Zoom call with CNN’s Anderson Cooper was going for $630 while the same call with his colleague Brian Stelter was going for only $57.

Jake Tapper, who cleverly decided to pair his call with actor Paul Rudd, is heavily leading his fellow CNN correspondents and anchors with his highest bid coming in at a whopping $1,975. 

The top selling item of the fundraiser so far is George Clooney’s Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary Silver Snoopy Award Watch for $13,100.

Another top selling item are 2 Tickets to a Future Marvel Film Premiere which has 68 bids already, the top of which is at $7,850.

CNN personalities are bringing in a range of bids. Alisyn Camerota’s highest bid is $63, John Berman’s is $305, Kate Bolduan is at $355, Ana Cabrera at $203.50 and Pamela Brown and Erin Burnett are both at $255.

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace’s highest bid is at $305.00 and her colleague Willie Geist has brought in $202.50 so far.

Fox News host Dana Perino has a bid of $102.50 and ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos is at $201 so far.

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to Barack Obama and CNN commentator, is offering a half-hour call currently going for $300.

To attend a New York Mets or Philadelphia Phillies game in 2022 with Bob Costas and Jake Tapper, bidders would have to outpay the top bid of $2,520.

Two 2 VIP tickets to the TODAY Show Summer Concert Series – along with a meet and greet with Savannah Guthrie – is at $405 with seven days left in the fundraiser.

Comedians and actors are also involved in the fundraiser – far outraising their television news counterparts.

Late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel has brought in $1,500 so far and fellow comedian Jon Stewart is at $365.

Comedian Stephen Colbert is offering two VIP Tickets and a meet and greet for $2,016 as of Sunday morning with 40 bids.

Trevor Noah has brought in $510 so far for his offer of two tickets and a meet and greet on his Back to Abnormal tour.

Some of the physical items for sale include an original Lela Rose dress worn by actress and comedian Mindy Kaling for $260.00 and a pair of Ron Burgundy jockey briefs autographed by Will Ferrell for $165.50.

For a script of the 2021 ‘The Suicide Squad’ signed by the cast, people will have to out bid the current $1,160 offer.

‘The Walking Dead’ actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan autographed his character’s signature barbed wire baseball bat, which is going for $1,625 so far and Mark Hamill signed a Luke Skywalker ‘Star Wars’ figurine going for $810.

Parents could also bid to get a personalized voice message from actor Josh Gad in his voice for Olaf from ‘Frozen’ if they outbid $255.

A couple authors are also offering that the highest bidders get their names written into their next novels – for either $840 or $2,550 as of Sunday morning.
