Vicious chameleon in Florida tries to eat its owner’s eye

  • The remarkable footage shows the pet, called Tuney, leaping at his owner’s eye
  • She had been holding him on the back of her hand but was caught out by the pet
  • Luckily the video, filmed in Florida, ends with the owner laughing off the attack

This is the astonishing moment a vicious chameleon tries to eat its owner’s eye.

The remarkable footage starts with the owner holding her pet, called Tuney, who appears to be sitting calmly on the woman’s hand.

But in a flash the chameleon decides that the unsuspecting woman’s eye looks like a tasty dinner and pounces on her with his tongue in a sudden movement.

Luckily no harm is done and the footage, filmed in Florida, ends with the owner laughing at the surprise attack.

As the woman drums her fingers, the small animal opens its mouth, gazing at the woman's eyeball as it eyes up something to eat

At the start of the short clip Tuney is sitting, apparently docile, on the back of his owner’s hand as she sits in a chair.

As the woman drums her fingers, the small animal opens its mouth, gazing at the woman’s eyeball as it eyes up something to eat.

The owner seems unaware of the hungry pet’s intentions, however, as she turns towards the camera and laughs.

Realising Tuney is coming closer, she gradually moves her head further away, but is not quick enough to stop the chameleon smacking her in the eyeball.

The camera loses track of the action for a moment but fortunately the woman surfaces laughing and rubbing her eye in surprise rather than pain as she gets up.
