Vicky Pattison, 35, thanks the clinic where she began egg freezing journey

Vicky Pattison has thanked the team who froze her eggs when she began her fertility journey last week with fiancé Ercan Ramadan.

The television star, 35, who is completing the process at London Women’s Clinic, previously said on Vicky’s The Secret To podcast she was worried she could run out of time if she did not put a plan in place after her eggs were called ‘geriatric’ by doctors.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Vicky shared a picture outside the clinic with her fiancé as she detailed the process.

‘There is more than one route to motherhood’: Vicky Pattison, 35, detailed her egg freezing journey in a candid post post on Friday as she posed outside the clinic with Ercan Ramadan

Vicky wrote: ‘Last week @ercan_ram and I took our first proper steps to hopefully adding to our family in the future..

‘I haven’t posted about this as I haven’t really known what to say and stupidly everytime I do start typing about it, I cry- and I really haven’t needed more of a reason to be tearful recently with my bloody period still making me seem completely emotionally unstable.

‘Anyway, I just wanted to say a big Thankyou to the amazing team at @londonwomensclinic who were so kind, understanding and just lovely to us as we were pretty nervous and emotional.’

‘We each had a series of scans and tests- I’ve got to be honest, it was a sight to behold watching erc toddle off clutching his little cup for his ‘sample’

‘And luckily we’re all healthy and in a good position to prepare for the egg retrieval process in the new year! Then if everything goes to plan we’ll make our gorgeous little embryos and our frozen family will be there waiting for us When we do decide to start that next chapter of lives.

Medical: Vicky also shared photographs from the process inside the clinic and asked anyone ‘who’s been there’ for advice

She added: ‘I want women to be aware that there is more than one route to motherhood and happiness- but we have to understand more about our OWN bodies first and I think there’s a real lack of honest information out there- and we also have to understand that every woman’s experience with having children or trying to have children is different.

‘In the new year I will be doing my best to share every step of this process with you- chronicling the highs and the lows of our embryo freezing process- just to give those ladies out there thinking about doing it an accurate understanding of how it can look! It will be shared on the show.

‘In the interim, I know the process itself, the injections, the hormones, everything although slightly different for everyone, can be tough so any advice any who’s been there can give me is super welcome.’

Previously, Vicky also revealed that she had ‘put off’ the egg freezing process because she thought and Ercan would get to  a stage where they would be ready to start trying for a child naturally.

‘Yesterday, me and Ercan went to start our egg freezing journey. It’s been a long time coming and I’ve been saying I’m going to do it,’ Vicky told her guest Bianca Gascoigne.

‘I think, if I’m honest with myself, the reason I’ve been putting it off is because I was waiting for this moment where I just felt we’re actually ready to try and conceive naturally.

‘I just was waiting for that moment where I was like ‘I’ve got a house and I love you Ercan, and we know we’re going to be together, and I want to have a baby with you now’, and I was waiting for that to come. I wanted it to and it just didn’t.

‘That’s what I was chatting to the nurse about – I said ‘I kept waiting to just feel ready so I didn’t have to do this, and it never came’.

‘And I realised if you keep waiting for that lightbulb moment where ‘oh yeah, I’m ready to be a mother’, you’re going to potentially miss the opportunity to even freeze some good eggs.’

FREEZING YOUR EGGS: THE FACTS

Freezing eggs means going through the IVF process, which typically takes two to three weeks.

This involves taking drugs to boost the production of eggs, and also to help the eggs mature.

Once the eggs are ready, women are placed under general anaesthetic while they are collected – typically around 15 eggs, although this isn’t always possible for women with lower reserves.

Next, a freezing solution is added to the eggs to protect them, then they are frozen and stored in tanks of liquid nitrogen.

When the woman is ready to use the eggs, they are thawed and those that have survived intact are injected with sperm.

Vicky revealed how she and Ercan began the process, with her fiancé producing sperm in a cup, while her eggs were frozen.

Back in September, Vicky shared her fertility concerns and told how it’s ‘really scary’ that her eggs are ‘classed as geriatric’ due to her age.

Geriatric pregnancy is a rarely-used term for having a baby over the age of 35, as it is considered the age when fertility begins to decline more rapidly.

She said on Loose Women: ‘Our plan is we’re going to get married probably 2024 now, let everybody who had Covid-cancelled weddings catch up. But we’re going to start the egg freezing process in October this year.

‘It’s really scary, do you know my eggs are classed as geriatric? I feel like they’re lovely little eggs, but yeah they are classed as geriatric.

‘I don’t think lasses are aware of how difficult it becomes to get pregnant, conceive naturally and have healthy pregnancies after the age of about 30! I’m flying the flag.’

Vicky went on to explain why she wants to wait a few years before having a baby, saying that her relationship with Ercan is still new and she wants to enjoy it first.

‘Even though I love Ercan, our relationship is still in its infancy, we’ve only been together three years,’ she said.

‘I just would love the chance to enjoy every stage naturally, before I go and add sleepless nights and a permanently crying bundle of joy.’

The TV personality said she hopes to have a baby just before she turns 40, as she spoke about how she has changed her mind about having children.

She said: ‘I would love to have a baby just before I’m 40, so just after we’re married, but who is to say what is going to happen.’
