Victoria Beckham reveals she won’t give son Brooklyn marriage advice

She’s been married to football legend David for 22 years.

But Victoria Beckham has insisted that she will not be giving marriage advice to eldest son Brooklyn Beckham amid his upcoming wedding to Nicola Peltz.

Speaking in a new interview, the Spice Girl, 47, quipped that ‘there’s nothing worse than someone giving advice’ as she explained why she won’t be passing on her words of wisdom.

Keeping mum: Victoria Beckham has insisted that she will not be giving marriage advice to eldest son Brooklyn Beckham amid his upcoming wedding to Nicola Peltz

She told WSJ magazine: ‘There’s nothing worse than someone giving advice. I remember Geri [Horner] saying to me, ‘When you get a TV, you get a TV manual. But when you have a baby there’s no manual. You just got to figure that s**t out for yourself.’ That’s the truth.

Brooklyn, 22, and actress Nicola, 26, became engaged in June last year, thought it’s not been confirmed when their wedding will be.

Fashion designer Victoria tied the knot with David, 46, in a lavish ceremony back in 1999, and though their two-decade marriage has had its ups and downs, the couple have remained strong throughout the years.

Touching on her own union, she added: ‘I’ve always been lucky that I’ve got a strong family unit, not just with David and the kids but with my parents and David’s parents. I feel very blessed that I have that. The kids always come first to me and David.’

Victoria went on to say that there’s a difference between offering advice and supporting their children, which she and David try to do.

She said: ‘We offer advice. There’s a difference between offering advice and being there to support them. If you offer it and they want to take it, that’s great. Sometimes they want it and sometimes they don’t. And that’s OK, too.’

As well as Brooklyn, the couple also share sons Romeo, 19 and Cruz, 16, and daughter Harper, 10.

The Not Such An Innocent Girl hitmaker added that there’s value in her children learning their ‘own mistakes’, adding that she and her husband are ‘always there’ to support their children.

It comes after Victoria revealed that her children want her to revisit her 1990s outfits – but she thinks she’d end up ‘locked away by the fashion police’.

The designer – who shares Brooklyn Romeo Cruz and  Harper with husband David Beckham – revealed her brood keep digging out old photos from her Spice Girls days.

Despite their pestering for the Wannabe hitmaker to try the same ‘really cool’ looks again, the fashion boss doesn’t agree.

She told The Wall Street Journal: ‘My kids pull out all my old pictures! There’s one paparazzi picture of me going into Marks & Spencer’s and I’m on the phone, wearing tracksuit bottoms, some sort of trainer, and I’ve got a big silver puffer [jacket].

‘Cruz sent me that image a couple weeks ago and was like, “Mum you look so cool; why don’t you dress like that anymore?” And I’m thinking, if I dressed like that now I’d be locked away by the fashion police…

According to her, the faux pas was due to their choice of designer for the occasion, rather than their ensembles.

Posh Spice also joked that she will ‘never, ever, ever, ever be allowed to forget that look’, adding that she couldn’t believe the pair had worn Gucci to a Versace event.

The former pop star said her style evolution has been ‘a journey’ and she’s learned to keep things ‘simple’ when it comes to her personal look as she discussed her fashion career in an interview with Grazia.

‘I never look back and cringe at anything. It’s been a journey and everything has bought me to where I am now. You know, I think it’s about keeping it quite simple, being true to who I am, and being comfortable.’
