Victoria Wood’s family have revealed unseen snaps of the late comic ahead of a BBC documentary focusing on her most iconic moments. 

The actress could be seen working on the first episodes of her TV series, which went onto include sketches such as The Ballad of Barry and Freda.

Victoria Wood: The Secret List will feature stars reflecting on the late comedian’s most loved sketches from her 45-year career, four years after she died following a battle with cancer.

In one snap Victoria could be seen chatting to producer Geoff Posner outside the BBC Studios as they began work on As Seen On TV.

A second image, also taken from the 1980s, showed the comic hard at work on the series at her desk.

The Secret List is set feature unseen insights into Victoria’s life including clips from her own personal archive.

Stars will also reflect on her vast collection of work that spanned four decades, with focus on a list of 20 sketches that were found in one of Victoria’s personal notebooks following her death. 

Highlights will include her first ever monologue and four episodes of Acorn Antiques that starred Victoria’s longtime collaborator Julia Walters and Celia Imrie. 

According to The Mirror, the documentary will reveal that Victoria struggled to write some of her sketches and would ‘do anything rather than sit down and work.’

The documentary also reportedly claims the legendary Ballad of Barry And Freda was written in just one evening, with a certain lyric that referenced a women’s magazine added at the last moment.

Victoria started her career in 1974 by winning the talent show New Faces aged 20, before going on to become one of Britain’s most popular stand-up comics.

She died in April 2016 at the age of 62 after battling cancer of the oesophagus.

Several well-known figures paid tribute after her passing including Julie Walters, fellow comedian Ricky Gervais, author JK Rowling and former Prime Minister David Cameron.

Victoria Wood: The Secret List airs on Christmas Day at 9pm on BBC2.
