Victorian man, 31, charged after allegedly stabbing golfer

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a golfer in Victoria over the weekend.

The 31-year-old from Clonbinane was arrested following an altercation with a 33-year-old man at Broadford Golf Course Sunday afternoon.

The victim was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after the incident and is recovering in the Alfred, according to the Herald Sun.

Detectives from the Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit charged the man with intentionally causing serious injury, as well as two counts of threat to inflict serious injury on Monday.

A third man was also said to have been involved in the clash, with investigators believing all three men knew each other.

Dozens of emergency services attended the scene Sunday, with the victim receiving a cut to a major artery in his leg, News Corp reports.

The 31-year-old man was expected to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court Monday morning, Police confirmed.

The golf course, located about 80 kilometres north of Melbourne, was closed at the time, according to Nine News. 

A second stabbing, believed to be unrelated, also occurred on Sunday afternoon.

A man in his 40s reportedly presented at the Melton West Medical Centre with wounds to his upper body.

He was transferred to Royal Melbourne Hospital and was said to not have been cooperating with police.
