Video captures frozen waves of Canada’s Lesser Slave Lake

These explorers found the perfect time to catch some waves – as they were literally frozen in time.

Plummeting temperatures saw Lesser Slave Lake in Alberta, Canada, come to a full stop, allowing two adventurers to walk on water as they took in the rare phenomenon.

A stunning video shows the water completely frozen, including the peaks and troughs of the waves that had been lapping across the surface.

Ievgen Gretskyi was able to skirt across the lake and take some amazing footage of the standstill in -10F weather.

He said: ‘I was speechless for a moment when I saw it. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It looked like time itself had just stopped.

‘I was there with my buddy Pav and we were extremely lucky to see this unique natural phenomenon.

‘There was no one else there and we had the lake to ourselves. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

‘I’m not sure how long the lake had been like that. 

‘Last year we were there at the end of January and we saw some cool ice formations, but nothing quite like this,’ he said.
