Hilarious footage has captured a cat’s desperate attempt to catch a laser beam.

In the clip, which was filmed in Burnaby in Canada earlier this year, the black and white cat is transfixed by a moving red light.

In pursuit of the elusive dot, the intrepid feline makes a mighty jump from a fridge to the top of a kitchen cabinet.

Then, in a move worthy of a ninja, he creeps up on the laser before taking several lethal swipes at it with his paws.

But his prey merely flies merrily across to another cabinet.

Undeterred, the cat leaps across the divide, then hurtles after the light when it settles on a freezer below.

The footage, which was uploaded on April 14 this year, has gone viral, with over 2,000 views on YouTube.
