Viewers left shocked as enormous snake interrupts Aussie YouTube podcast recording

Viewers of Australian YouTube podcast Fresh Perspectives were left shocked when an enormous snake made a surprise appearance during a recent edition of the series.

Andrew Ward of Regen Farmers Mutual remained surprisingly calm when the carpet python unfurled from the roof right behind him while he was guest starring on the show.

‘There’s a snake behind you,’ exclaimed the shocked podcast hosts.

Ward kept a cool head and laughed off the presence of the reptile.

‘It’s only a carpet python. Don’t worry…I don’t have a name for it because snakes can’t hear you anyway,’ he said.

He also made a quip about the snake’s gatecrashing being more interesting than what he was saying.

Commenters expressed their amazement in the comments to the video on social media.

‘Welcome to Australia,’ said one, while another wrote ‘Australians built different.’

‘Way too calm for me! I would have been out of there,’ one other comment read.

Meanwhile one viewer joked ‘That carpet python is a paid actor.’

The carpet python is a large snake in the Pythonidae family found in Australia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Morelia spilota is its scientific name and it is one of the largest pythons in the world, measuring from 2 to 4 metres and weighing up to 15 kilograms.

The serpents capture and kill their prey (usually small mammals, birds and lizards) by constriction and have been known to devour small cats and dogs as well.

Carpet pythons are generally not dangerous to humans as they are nonvenomous.

However, they might defensively bite if threatened, as seen last month when Robert Irwin shared footage of a python attacking him.
