Vigilante cyclist accuses London van driver of using his phone behind the wheel before angry motorist suggests they ‘go and have a little chat in the park’

  • Mikey, a London cyclist, filmed confrontation near Regent’s Park early this week
  • He regularly watches over area to ensure motorists are obeying Highway Code
  • On this occasion, a van driver becomes irate after questioned about phone use

This is the moment a vigilante cyclist accused a van driver of using his phone behind the wheel – and claims the motorist then offered to fight him.

Mikey, a London cyclist, filmed the video at a junction near Regent’s Park, London, earlier this week.

The cyclist, who posts clips on YouTube using the name CyclingMikey, regularly watches over the area to ensure motorists are obeying the Highway Code.

On this occasion he claims to have spotted a van driver on his phone while about to make a right turn, so he decided to confront him about the issue.

In the footage, Mikey spots the white van on the other side of the road.

He crosses over and approaches the van which prompts the driver to roll down his window.

The van driver then pulls out of the queue of traffic and turns down a side street as he hits back by asking Mikey: ‘Do you want to go and have a little chat in the park, yeah?’

To which the cyclist responds: ‘Do I need to call the police? Because I will. You’re on video by the way.’

Five minutes later, the van driver has pulled up and approaches the cyclist as if he too is now recording Mikey.

The vigilante cyclist then follows the driver back toward the van to find out which company he works for by looking through the windows.

He then asks: ‘Anything to say to your boss?’

To which the van driver responds: ‘I’m the boss mate.’

The pair then part ways. The cyclist walks back to his bike while the van driver motors off in the same direction.

Mikey later uploaded his clip on YouTube with the caption: ‘Phone driver offers to fight me’.

It is not the first time Mikey has called out cyclists in the area.

In June, a furious motorist knocked him with his car after the vigilante cyclist confronted him for driving on the wrong side of the road.

A passing police car stopped during the latest altercation to speak to the driver, who had cut past the traffic in order to get to work faster, for 25 minutes.

He was issued with tickets for driving and public order offences, according to Mikey.
