Viktor Gyokeres has made a fresh admission over his future amid links to both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Gyokeres, 27, has been in scintillating form for Sporting CP this season, with 53 goals and 13 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

He has been linked with the Gunners, who will finish 2nd in the Premier League for a third successive season.

They faltered in the title race following injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus forced them to play Mikel Merino as an auxiliary striker.

A possible move to Old Trafford has also been on the cards for the Swede, as he was managed by Ruben Amorim before the Portuguese coach moved to the Red Devils mid-way through 2024-25.

Now, Gyokeres has opened up on what his future may hold as the current campaign draws to a conclusion.

He made the remark ahead of Sporting’s Taca de Portugal final against their cross-city rivals Benfica.

Speaking to Portuguese TV channel SIC Noticias, Gyokeres was asked what his future holds.

He replied: ‘Hopefully you can expect I keep improving and score goals.’

‘We’ll see. It’s the future.Football is like that, you never know what’s going to happen.

‘As we saw this season, you never know what’s going to happen. And it’s the same thing now. We’ll see what the future holds.’

A potential factor that could influence Gyokeres’ decision – given his desire to prove himself at the highest level – is United’s lack of Champions League football.

While Arsenal secured a top-five finish with a game to spare following victory over Newcastle last weekend, the Red Devils will be out of Europe entirely.

However, United may face an uphill battle to sign him due to a lack of European football next season

Amorim’s side will be consigned to their worst-ever finish in Premier League history, as they currently sit 16th in the table.

After failing to beat Tottenham in Wednesday night’s Europa League final in Bilbao, they may struggle to attract new signings ahead of 2025-26.

The club will receive just £5million for finishing as Europa League runners-up, as they will not benefit from the added windfall of being in the Champions League.

In contrast, the winners’ prize and a place in the top table of European competition will be worth around £125million to Spurs.
