A former professional boxer is accused of shooting a woman dead after her body was found at an asbestos removal business.

Kayla Rose Halnan’s remains were discovered at a business in Welshpool, south-east of Perth, on Tuesday. 

Ms Halnan, 26, and boxer Vinnie Caruana, 35, knew each other, it is understood, but their exact relationship is unknown.

Caruana holds state titles that gained him considerable fame in his hometown of Northam, according to 9 News.

He was also known by his ring name of The Working Class man due to his extensive career in construction and mining.

Caruana used his success in the ring in his next career as motivational speaker.

Currently he is understood to be working as a general manager of a local business.

The former boxer was arrested and charged over Ms Halnan’s murder on Thursday.

A second man faced questioning by police however they were released without charge.

Caruana appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday but did not apply for bail and will return in two weeks time.

Caruana was also known by his ring name of The Working Class man due to his extensive career in construction and mining - and later went on to be a motivation speaker
