A Virginia man was arrested and charged with three counts of felony child abuse and neglect, reckless handling of a firearm and allowing children to access a firearm.

Isaiah Marshall Davis, 26, and a woman left three children between the ages of two and four unsupervised in a car outside Quarles Truck Stop in Opal, Virginia, on Friday night.

Davis’s two-year-old son got a hold of an unsecured firearm inside the car and accidentally shot the four-year-old girl in the upper body.

The third toddler in the car was not injured, according to NBC Washington.

The clerk inside the truck stop said the little girl was brought inside by her mother, the woman with Davis, after she was shot.

But instead of telling the clerk what happened or getting proper medical attention, she said the little girl was bit by a dog and took her to the truck stop bathroom to clean her wound with peroxide and Band-Aids.

The clerk decided to call the police but before they could arrive, the woman, children and Davis left the truck stop.

The children and adults weren’t found by police until later that day in Westmoreland County, Virginia.

It was Davis's son that got a hold of the gun and accidentally shot a four-year-old girl
