But nothing could have seemed less fitting for Anna Wintour when she was spotted chatting with Australian tennis champion Rod Laver on Friday.
The 69-year-old New York publishing titan was spotted in the stands at Rod Laver Arena for the Australian Open tennis tournament.

At times Anna looked animated as she leaned over to chat with Rod, 80, as the pair watched the men’s singles semi-finals between Lucas Pouille and Novak Djokovic.
At other times, the new found friends clapped good play from both players, with Novak Djokovic ending up winning in straight sets.
Anna kept her outfit chic for the sporting event, opting for a stylish metallic purple sleeveless frock that appeared to be made of silk.

Anna paired the outfit with an elegant layered necklace along with a teal clutch which featured an eye-catching floral design.
It comes after the US Vogue editor-in-chief didn’t mince her words in a fiery keynote speech address at the Australian Open Inspirational Series brunch.

The fashion behemoth spoke about LGBT rights in Australia, slamming Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and 24-time tennis grand slam winner Margaret Court over their conservative views about gay marriage.
Anna described Mr Morrison’s record on the divisive topic as ‘backwards in all senses’ and called for Margaret Court Arena at Melbourne Park to be renamed.
‘Not everyone in power in Australia today seems to admire the country’s leadership role,’ Anna told attendees.

‘Like many of you, I have been alarmed by your Prime Minister’s record on LBTGQ rights, which seems backward in all senses that no one can be expelled from school for their orientation should not require clarification.
‘A government should protect its people and not make it unclear whether they will be accepted.’
She then took a swipe at Margaret, saying intolerance has no place in tennis.

‘It is inconsistent for the sport for Margaret Court’s name to be on the stadium that does so much to bring all people together across their differences,’ she said.
The speech saw Margaret Court give the fashion star a serve back, claiming the American said not be telling Australians what to do.
‘The saddest thing is someone coming from America and telling us in this nation what to do,’ Margaret told The West Australian on Friday.
‘I’ve loved my nation, played for my nation. There’s probably no one who has been more supportive of, or spoke more highly of, the game of tennis.’
