Vogue is mocked for claiming Bella Hadid is ‘bringing back’ wired headphones as critics argue the accessory never went out of fashion

  • Bella Hadid is ‘bringing wired headphones back in style’ according to Vogue
  • Trendsetters have mocked the suggestion in a viral thread shared on Twitter
  • Many say they never stopped using the accessory despite popularity of wireless

Wireless headphones have become uniform to those who enjoy listening to music and podcasts on their daily commute and at the gym.

However, Vogue has implied they could soon be out of fashion, as Bella Hadid was recently spotted wearing wired headphones when she stepped out at New Orleans International Airport.

Alongside a link praising the American model’s style, the publication tweeted: ‘Forget AirPods – Bella Hadid is bringing back the wire headphone.’

The suggestion was mocked in a viral Twitter thread that has racked up over 50,000 re-tweets, with many arguing they don’t allow celebrities to dictate what they choose to wear.

Others argued Bella can’t be responsible for bringing back a trend that never went away, revealing they chose not to swap their wired headphones for the popular Bluetooth devices.

Vogue’s article sparked a viral discussion on Twitter, as many argued Bella can’t made the accessory return because it never left

Sparking the discussion, a Twitter user shared the Vogue Runway tweet with the response: ‘Literally just got AirPods for Christmas are you f****** joking’.

But many mocked the fashion bible as they argued that the demand for wired headphones never went away.

‘Wire headphones never went out of style. They’re so much better anyway, the connection is cleaner and faster and no disruptions,’ wrote one.

Another commented: ‘Bringing back?! Did they ever go away? (says me who has had the same corded earphones since two years ago).

A third added: ‘She can’t bring it back when wired headphones never left.’

A flood of responses to the thread came from those who said they never stopped using wired headphones despite the popularity of Apple's wireless AirPods

Some reassured the woman who began the thread by arguing that AirPods are ‘better’ than wired headphones, and urged others not to copy Bella Hadid.

‘AirPods are better anyways. Don’t be a sheep. You work for your money! It’s your money not Bella’s. Buy what makes you happy,’ wrote one.

Another commented: ‘I don’t get how headphones matter, I just want functional headphones that play music louder through one earphone than the other and that don’t pause or skip songs the moment I move the cable slightly. Be grateful for you AirPods.’

‘I don’t care, AirPods are more convenient to work out in and I’m NOT going back to wires no matter how good Bella Hadid rocks them,’ added a third.

Others said that people shouldn't be influenced by Bella's style choices and that AirPods are better than wired alternatives
