With just over two months to go before wedding season gets under way, many guests will already be planning their outfits.
And now Vogue has revealed its expert guide to ensure that you’re the best dressed guest this summer.
According to the fashion bible, cardigans are no longer a fashion faux pas – and could provide you with some much needed warmth as you party into the early hours.
Meanwhile, fake tan is a definite no-no, while fascinators should be avoided at ‘all costs’ – as they ‘only every look half-hearted.’
Vogue has issued its expert style guide for wedding guests, and it includes embracing the cardigan. The much maligned garment is a favourite of Michaelle Obama’s (pictured leaving Westminster Abbey with Barack Obama in 2011)
Fashion experts at Vogue say that the cardigan is ‘no longer off limits’, suggesting that guests take a leaf out of Erdem’s book by accessorising with a statement brooch.
Guests should also avoid faking a summer glow, to avoid smearing ‘Ginger Nut orange on the bride’s dazzling gown’.
While Princess Beatrice famously made a statement with her Philip Treacy fascinator at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011, Vogue says the accessory can often look ‘half-hearted’ – and therefore should be avoided.
Instead, you should go for feminine hair clips instead, or opt for a pillarbox hat, if you want to make the extra effort.
The guide also suggests that you should ditch the clutch bag, and go for a stylish bag featuring a handle – as favoured by Meghan Markle in recent appearances.
The advice from Vogue comes after society bible Tatler revealed its ‘ultimate’ wedding gift list last month including a £25,000 knife set and a chintzy designer lampshade.
Top of the list was a £739 lamp featuring elaborate tassel detail and a pink floral shade, carved in the shape of a pineapple.
The list also included a £590 Bertolo cashmere throw, an £11,520 poker set and a £2,850 decanter featuring a stag head bottle stopper.
All in all, the list comes to a staggering £41,267 – almost double the price of the average UK wedding.
While Princess Beatrice famously made a statement with her fascinator at William and Kate’s wedding, Vogue says they should be avoided at all costs
As is custom, white and other pale colours should be avoided at all costs, as ignored by Donna Air when she attended the wedding of Pippa and James Matthews last year
