Waleed Aly roasted on social media in wake of The Project host’s wildly inaccurate prediction about US Presidential election

Waleed Aly has been roasted online for incorrectly predicting Democrat nominee Kamala Harris would win the US Presidential Election on Tuesday.

The Project co-host, 46, travelled to US capital Washington D.C. to cover the election for Channel Ten. 

Just hours before Donald Trump won he told Kate Langbroek he tipped Harris to win.

‘Kamala Harris. There’s a name. My theory is, Trump has fewer ways to win. Kamala has a bit more room for error in the people she is targeting and who might turn out,’ Waleed said earlier this week.

Angry viewers have now taken to social media to mock the political pundit.

‘Waleed is a cheerleader not a commentator,’ one person sniped and a second person added: ‘Obviously he has no idea.’

‘Got any other hot predictions Waleed?’ another person cheekily asked.

‘How WRONG was Waleed…..HAHAHAHAHAHA,’ a fourth user wrote.

‘Wally always has been and always will be a muppet,’ another critic declared. 

Following his incorrect prediction, Waleed blamed Harris’ loss on not providing voters with a direct message. 

The TV star explained his theory on Wednesday night while speaking with US political commentator Steve Clemons.

The pair spoke an hour after Trump took to the stage in Florida to address the nation about his victory.

‘This is as bad a loss as they could probably have conceived,’ Waleed said.

‘When you lose like this, everything was wrong,’ Mr Clemons replied.

Following his incorrect prediction, Waleed blamed US presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ (pictured) loss on not providing voters with a direct message 

‘Joe Biden stepped out too late. She didn’t tend to wing it very well when asked about her economic plan – the nuts and bolts of policy.’

Waleed added his own theory about Vice President Harris losing because of a lack of clarification. 

He admitted he was surprised at the speed of the outcome as the results of some of the ‘key’ battleground states were predicted to take longer to reveal.

Trump ultimately won with 295 Electoral College votes to Harris’ 226.

270 votes are required to win the presidency.
